Most New Yorkers have a hard time in the winter. They complain about the filthy black icebergs that remain on the sidewalks for weeks after a snow storm, and they hate that it’s still cold in March. Not me. I was born during a freezing New York January, and I’ve loved New York winter ever since. It’s the hot, muggy summers that I can’t stand, and I try to be away from the city as much as possible during those months. Thankfully I spent most of August in California, where I had a great time relaxing in Palm Springs and doing book events in Los Angeles, San Diego, and Oakland.
I just arrived in England, where I’ll be in conversation with the writer Nicolas-Tyrell Scott at London’s beautiful Institute for Contemporary Arts (ICA) this Wednesday evening. Then I’ll be back in the USA doing book events in some cities I haven’t visited since I toured in bands in the 2000s. I hope to see you at one of the dates below.
More events will be announced soon. Details and updates can be found HERE.
I recently had a great time going deep in this long-form BBC Outlook interview. If that’s too heavy for you, check out my conversation with Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus on his podcast After School Radio.
My memoir My Life in the Sunshine is out now. I’d love it if you picked up a copy at your local independent bookstore. It’s also available at all the big places, and for your Kindle as well. There’s an audiobook that I spent 20 hours of my life reading (it’ll only take 7 hours to listen).
I hope to see you this summer/fall.
